The Reverend Father Joshua Burnett, Pastor

Fr. Joshua was appointed pastor of Holy Cross in August 2018 after serving three years as an Assistant Priest in Wichita, KS. He was received into the Orthodox Church on the feast of the Elevation of the Cross in 2006 and was ordained to the Priesthood in 2015. Fr. Joshua is a graduate of St. Vladimir’s Seminary in New York City. He and his wife, Khouria Meredith, have nine children, two of whom they adopted just before coming to Holy Cross.

The Reverend Father Peter Maris

Father Peter was ordained a priest by His Grace Bishop THOMAS here at Holy Cross on Christmas Day at our Nativity Liturgy, December 2021. He served as Deacon since September 2010.  Although he was baptized and chrismated in the Greek Orthodox Church as an infant, his family worshipped as Protestants for many years.  Fr. Peter received his Master of Divinity and Master of Theology degrees from Regent College in Vancouver, British Columbia and then served in pastoral ministry for 13 years before “coming home” to Orthodoxy on Lazarus Saturday 2007.  Fr. Peter completed the three year St. Stephen's Program in 2010.  He and his wife, Khouria Jeanine, live and work in northern Virginia.

 

The Very Reverend Father Gregory Mathewes-Green, Pastor Emeritus

Fr. Gregory Mathewes-Green is the founding pastor of Holy Cross Church and now is our Pastor Emeritus having retired in July, 2018. He had been an Episcopal priest for 15 years when he made the decision to enter Holy Orthodoxy, and was chrismated and ordained in January 1993. 

 

The Very Reverend Father John Monto

Fr. John was ordained to the Diaconate in Dec of 1997 at St. Peter's Orthodox Church in Ft. Worth TX by Bp. BASIL (Essey) and to the Priesthood in 2005 in Wichita KS also by Bp. BASIL. He attended the Antiochian House of Studies, received an Masters of Arts degree in Applied Orthodox Theology from the University of Balamand in 1998, and in 2014 received a Masters of Science in I.T. from UMUC. For enjoyment he composes music, particularly choral music.

 
 

The Reverend Deacon Mark O'Dell (attached)

Dn. Mark O'Dell (attached) was chrismated in 1995 at St. George, Danbury CT.  He moved to Holy Cross Church in 1996 and was ordained to the Diaconate in 2003.  Dn. Mark is currently on loan to St. Spyridon Orthodox Church, Loveland, CO while he cares for his family.
