Questions will go in a round robin way with each team taking turns. A question will not be used again or offered to the next team if missed.
Answers
- Each team will field a question from the event proctor and have 10 seconds to respond.
- If incorrect, the team will have a second chance to articulate a response within 5 seconds.
- Again, only responses presented by the team captain will be accepted.
- There will be no lightning rounds.
Scoring
- A correct answer will count for 3 points.
- A correct second attempt will count for 1 point.
- An incorrect answer will not count for any score. It gets zero points.
- An official scorer will keep track of each answer scored or not scored by the team.
Tiebreaker
- A single tiebreaker question will get proctored to each team until a clear winner and/or second place team is identified based on points accumulated. Scoring for the tiebreaker will be the same as for the rest of the event.
Judges
- All answers will come from the “The Orthodox Study Bible”. The participants have the right to challenge an answer, however the judges will have final decision as to whether an answer is acceptable or not.
- The Judges have sole authority on whether or not an answer is correct or not. Should the judges feel a particular question or answer fell into an area of discrepancy or caused confusion, the Judges will direct it stricken from the contest another question and answer submitted.
- Judging will come from a representative panel of Priests of each of the participating parishes.
Timekeeper
- An official timekeeper will start and stop the clock during the competition. Again, 10 seconds will be given to answer the question with 5 seconds allocated for a second attempt. Both timelines will begin when the event proctor indicates.
