Romanian Evening Follow-Up

Tuesday night’s Romanian Evening with the Frantz family was truly a blessing. Thirty parishioners and guests began the evening celebrating vespers together. A Romanian dinner followed with homemade stuffed cabbage, mititei (mici), salad and lots of wonderful desserts. The Floyd and Ancuta conducted a slide presentation focusing on both ministries — Floyd’s addictions program and Ancuta’s Family Center. Their work is amazing. Floyd’s program is now part of the Patriarch’s education and outreach program. Ancuta has served fifty mothers all of whom have graduated from the program are keeping their babies and living productively — I am truly sorry that more of you weren’t able to enjoy the food, fellowship and celebrate the wonder of their ministries!

It is not too late for you to participate by contributing to their work. Checks can be made payable to Holy Cross with the Frantz Romania ministry in the memo line. The parish council will ensure the checks reach them!

Many thanks to all of those who helped make and serve the food — M. Mykydis spent Sunday afternoon making stuffed cabbage with me. K. Mowers coordinated the desserts made by E. Lowe, V. Marcum, K. Shaw. A. Diamondidis brought fruit and K. Mowers and L. Nee made salads. Special thanks to D. Thomas and Father Gregory who were willing to try their hands at making Mamaliga cu Brinza (polenta with sour cream and cheese) for the first time. The Botescus donated Fresh Mitiei and a very special Romanian nut roll that was wonderful. Ancuta was deeply touched that we made Romanian food and was delighted with the Romanian dessert bread!!

This was truly a community event. Thanks to all who participated, including those who stayed late to clean up especially Joel Beaulac who volunteered to clean off all the tables!

I appreciate your work, your support and your wonderful food! You truly made this a memorable evening
